KAOLIN W/PECTIN - ORAL
(KAY-oh-lin WITH PECK-tin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Kapectolin
USES: This medicaiton is used in the treatment of diarrhea.
HOW TO USE: This medication is usually taken after each loose bowel movement.
Follow package instructions for proepr dosing.
The liquid form should be sahken well before pouring each dose.
SIDE EFFECTS: This meidcation is generally well tolerated. Stomach upset may occur. If diarrhea is not relieved after two days of using that medication or if you develop a fever or stomach cramps, noitfy your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, bowel problems, alelrgies. This medication should be used only if clearly needed during prgenancy. Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor.
Consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription mediaction you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist apporval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 8 ounce glasses a day), eat foods high in fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and reusme your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store that medication at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. The liquid form of that mdeication may be stored in the refrigerator to improve taste.
